Dear KMAG: 20200927

This Superlative Sanctuary Sunday Open Thread, with full respect to those who worship God on the Sabbath, is a place to reaffirm our worship of our Creator, our Father, our King Eternal.

It is also a place to read, post and discuss news that is worth knowing and sharing. Please post links to any news stories that you use as sources or quote from.

In the QTree, we’re a friendly and civil lot. We encourage free speech and the open exchange and civil discussion of different ideas. Topics aren’t constrained, and sound logic is highly encouraged, all built on a solid foundation of truth and established facts.

We have a policy of mutual respect, shown by civility. Civility encourages discussions, promotes objectivity and rational thought in discourse, and camaraderie in the participants – characteristics we strive toward in our Q Tree community.

Please show respect and consideration for your fellow QTreepers. Before hitting the “post” button, please proofread your post and make sure you’re addressing the issue only, and not trying to confront the poster. Keep to the topic – avoid “you” and “your”. Here in The Q Tree, personal attacks, name calling, ridicule, insults, baiting and other conduct for which a penalty flag would be thrown are VERBOTEN.

In The Q Tree, we’re compatriots, sitting around the campfire, roasting hot dogs, making s’mores and discussing, agreeing, and disagreeing about whatever interests us. This board will remain a home for those who seek respectful conversations.

Please also consider the Guidelines for posting and discussion , outlined here

Let’s not give the Internet Censors a reason to shut down this intellectual haven that Wolf has created for us.

The Storm is upon us.

It’s time to replace

On this day and every day –

God is in Control
. . . and His Grace is Sufficient, so . . .
Keep Looking Up

Hopefully, every Sunday, you can find something here that will build you up a little . . . give you a smile . . . and add some joy or peace, very much needed in all our lives.

“This day is holy to the Lord your God;
do not mourn nor weep.” . . .
“Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet,
and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared;
for this day is holy to our Lord.
Do not sorrow,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

What does the Bible mean that
we are not to judge others?

Jesus’ command not to judge others could be the most widely quoted of His sayings, even though it is almost invariably quoted in complete disregard of its context. Here is Jesus’ statement: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged” (Matthew 7:1). Many people use this verse in an attempt to silence their critics, interpreting Jesus’ meaning as “You don’t have the right to tell me I’m wrong.” Taken in isolation, Jesus’ command “Do not judge” does indeed seem to preclude all negative assessments. However, there is much more to the passage than those three words.

The Bible’s command that we not judge others does not mean we cannot show discernment. Immediately after Jesus says, “Do not judge,” He says, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs” (Matthew 7:6). A little later in the same sermon, He says, “Watch out for false prophets. . . . By their fruit you will recognize them” (verses 15–16). How are we to discern who are the “dogs” and “pigs” and “false prophets” unless we have the ability to make a judgment call on doctrines and deeds? Jesus is giving us permission to tell right from wrong.

Also, the Bible’s command that we not judge others does not mean all actions are equally moral or that truth is relative. The Bible clearly teaches that truth is objective, eternal, and inseparable from God’s character. Anything that contradicts the truth is a lie—but, of course, to call something a “lie” is to pass judgment. To call adultery or murder a sin is likewise to pass judgment—but it’s also to agree with God. When Jesus said not to judge others, He did not mean that no one can identify sin for what it is, based on God’s definition of sin.

And the Bible’s command that we not judge others does not mean there should be no mechanism for dealing with sin. The Bible has a whole book entitled Judges. The judges in the Old Testament were raised up by God Himself (Judges 2:18). The modern judicial system, including its judges, is a necessary part of society. In saying, “Do not judge,” Jesus was not saying, “Anything goes.”

Elsewhere, Jesus gives a direct command to judge: “Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly” (John 7:24). Here we have a clue as to the right type of judgment versus the wrong type. Taking this verse and some others, we can put together a description of the sinful type of judgment:

Superficial judgment is wrong. Passing judgment on someone based on appearances is sinful (John 7:24). It is foolish to jump to conclusions before investigating the facts (Proverbs 18:13). Simon the Pharisee passed judgment on a woman based on her appearance and reputation, but he could not see that the woman had been forgiven; Simon thus drew Jesus’ rebuke for his unrighteous judgment (Luke 7:36–50).

Hypocritical judgment is wrong. Jesus’ command not to judge others in Matthew 7:1 is preceded by comparisons to hypocrites (Matthew 6:2, 5, 16) and followed by a warning against hypocrisy (Matthew 7:3–5). When we point out the sin of others while we ourselves commit the same sin, we condemn ourselves (Romans 2:1).

Harsh, unforgiving judgment is wrong. We are “always to be gentle toward everyone” (Titus 3:2). It is the merciful who will be shown mercy (Matthew 5:7), and, as Jesus warned, “In the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Matthew 7:2).

Self-righteous judgment is wrong. We are called to humility, and “God opposes the proud” (James 4:6). The Pharisee in Jesus’ parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector was confident in his own righteousness and from that proud position judged the publican; however, God sees the heart and refused to forgive the Pharisee’s sin (Luke 18:9–14).

Untrue judgment is wrong. The Bible clearly forbids bearing false witness (Proverbs 19:5). “Slander no one” (Titus 3:2).

Christians are often accused of “judging” or intolerance when they speak out against sin. But opposing sin is not wrong. Holding aloft the standard of righteousness naturally defines unrighteousness and draws the slings and arrows of those who choose sin over godliness. John the Baptist incurred the ire of Herodias when he spoke out against her adultery with Herod (Mark 6:18–19). She eventually silenced John, but she could not silence the truth (Isaiah 40:8).

Believers are warned against judging others unfairly or unrighteously, but Jesus commends “right judgment” (John 7:24, ESV). We are to be discerning (Colossians 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). We are to preach the whole counsel of God, including the Bible’s teaching on sin (Acts 20:27; 2 Timothy 4:2). We are to gently confront erring brothers or sisters in Christ (Galatians 6:1). We are to practice church discipline (Matthew 18:15–17). We are to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

  1. Wolfie, something strange going on with my email notifications from Q-tree. Just started this morning. Instead of saying so and so liked or commented, almost all of the sender “names” are showing up as weird text letters, several paragraphs long.

    1. Lady P., I hve a terrible time lately even accessing my notifications and it gives me no way to respond, not even with likes. So frustrated. Several people here didn’t get responses from me simply because I couldn;’t find a way. Gurrr.

      1. Get used to the Gab interface.
We all may be having to migrate there before the election.
WP seems to have a “sabotage” setting fro conservative sites.

Gab s not fully done with their transfer of data to their own hardware, so some glitches this week, but they are improving every single day.

Obamacare will be replaced with a MUCH better, and FAR cheaper, alternative if it is terminated in the Supreme Court. Would be a big WIN for the USA!

In order to wake the normies the insanity level has to be driven ever upwards. But at the same time too much insanity will break the awake. It’s a balancing act of benefit (awakening), cost (harm to awake), and risk (failure to meet minimum awake fast enough). Military models.

Wow, nobody realized how far Mini Mike Bloomberg went in bribing ex-prisoners to go out and vote for Sleepy Joe. He is desperate to get back into the good graces of the people who not only badly beat him, but made him look like a total fool. Now he’s committed a serious crime!

We fight to confirm President Trump’s judicial nominees.

Who would Joe Biden put on the Supreme Court?
Joe Biden won’t release his SCOTUS shortlist, so we did it for him. These are some of the top contenders, according to Obama-Biden alums, Left-wing activists, and press reports.

We’ve decided we’re leaving. We intend to form our own country, we’re taking the other Blue States with us…that includes Hawaii, Oregon, California, New Mexico, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and all the Northeast.

    1. I need to remember VV’s words… “No blue states, there are blue CITIES.”

And, pretty soon they will learn that BLUE CITIES do not have the power to do what they are now doing…
that they are getting by with it at the moment because their GOVERNORS are TOO WEAK to remind them.

      1. Also Champaign County in downstate Illinois used to be very red but the dems have gotten control by using the university students and some corrupt politicians, but if those were gone, I think it would be red again, along with rest of downstate Illinois. I think only Chicago is truly blue, and I’m stuck here, so please don’t write us off.

    1. That’s where it was — drop #4772 «Never bring an arrow [in a quiver] to a LOSBR missile fight».

LOSBR is Line Of Sight Beam Reading, a way to guide the missile by illuminating the target. Used to be popular, but as the illuminator is about as unsubtle and obvious as a searchlight, its location can easily be figured out and hit. Though it will have to be something rather more substantial than arrows out of a quiver.

On the face of it, this admonition appears similar to «Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight» but the choice of weapons as it were … makes for an even more unequal fight. If that is what it is. Apparently borrowing a page from Warren, Pelosi said she would be bringing her quiver of arrows (which will be spent, cancelled, invalidated or otherwise rendered useless, as per the square-bracket code) to fight the White House on the Supreme Court nomination, or at least delay the confirmation.

But that choice of just this particular kind of missile technology ought to mean something.

      Liked by 3 people

        1. If it is seen by your missile it can be seen by someone else’s missile, so I’m not sure.

I suspect the point of this message is not about possible countermeasures to LOSBR itself, rather than setting the scene: Expectation that when Pelosi or someone close to Pelosi is being «illuminated» strongly, that a notional «missile» will be on its way shortly.

There was some talk about her removal if she went ahead with impeachment again, maybe that was it.

  8. Okay GudThots/T3 …

I’m taking a look at GAB… I joined back in March with the rest of you… but felt this gal too ol’ to learn new tricks.

Found this very helpful resource…” Frequently asked questions”

However, no answer with regard to how to repost. For example, I really miss reading Lisa Mei since JackBoot banned her… so, I went looking at GAB and found a post I wanted to bring back here. STUCK… unable to do so. (See what I mean about being too ol’?)

    Wolfie ?

Going to take baby steps… hopefully will get there by Spring 😉

    1. WordPress has code to import tweets by not one to import gabs.
You can copy/paste the text of a gab to post here.
You can click on an image hosted by gab to get it’s “image address” and then post that here.
Gab images have a question mark and extra numbers after the “.jpg” or “.png” that you have to remove.

    2. You could also click on the quote marks under a gab [ ” ] to quote the gab in a post of your own.
Then you can add handles for some of us Q Tree folks for us to see it on Gab.

However, if you fill up my home page with your posts I will probably mute you so I can see more from others that I follow. Sorry. It’s because Gab doesn’t let me get to the bottom of my unread timeline so I have to keep it clean.

Interesting – wherever they asked him anything about his health – he changed the subject to PT – he’s the one about which we should worry – not him – liberals are like little kids who blame others for what they have done wrong – don’t know why people cannot see this – guess that is why they want to erase history – because facts don’t like – they do.

    1. Yup. The drama for donations has picked up. Dunno the accuracy of the whining for donations. My donations to to Trump 2020. Yea, it’s WinRed or something like that. And, since President Trump allows his name to be associated with it, I’m OK donating that way. Plus, simplicity.

Will NOT donate to individual candidates, Short of mailing a check directly to President Trump.

Until the Trump Train came along, had never donated to any politico. After November 3rd, probably reverting to no donations again. IF, I had a decent candidate for Senate, house…i’d consider it. But generally, simply don’t trust the Rs. Yea, Rs are better than every D. But they are largely Uniparty.

Give me a Nunes, Gaetz…and my attitude can change.

internal polls show voter enthusiasm increased for you WHEN you said you would support POTUS’ nominee for the SCOTUS…

NOW, you are negating that by the terrible scheduling you have planned for her confirmation before the election. If I didn’t know better, I might think you’re working with the DIMS…

This voter prefers NO HEARING… if you’re going to call one, at least give it priority over the one you are scheduling for this week whereby you will be bringing in ex FIB Agent McCabe, etc. (which I must remind you have had TWO YEARS TO DO)… ohh and another reminder… he ignored previous subpoenas several times.

Your predecessor, Sen Thurmond, taught us how to do write-in elections… we might have to pull out those instructions for review.

He’s tearing it up on the mail in election fraud, on the media refusing to cover Spygate, Biden’s incapacity….the attacks on ACB’s catholicism….

Now he’s talking Hunter Biden, Mike Bloomberg….

A NYT story came out claiming PDJT only paid $250. per year in income tax. PDJT said that is a fake story, he pays Fed and State taxes. But he’s under audit and cannot release his tax returns.

He brought Kayleigh McEnany, Chris Christie, Rudy Guiliani.

He ended the conference suddenly – BOOM

Reporter shouts accusation that President Trump paid zero income tax.

    3. ALL the “news outlets” on the radio are running with the “Trump paid no taxes for years and is a horrible person for cheating the IRS out of millions” bullsh!t.
OF COURSE the lying MSM had to come up with some kind of “pre-emptive strike” against POTUS on the matter of taxes, in a desperate attempt to take the light / heat off HUNTER and the rest of the money-filching Biden clan.
And if Ole Joe tries to run with this football at the debate, POTUS will squash him.
(Except that in my opinion, there won’t be a debate on September 29 — either Ole Joe will have to “quarantine from exposure to the coronavirus” / “something else” will happen to remove Ole Joe from the debate — Kamala will be pushed as the “replacement” for Ole Joe at the debate: and POTUS will refuse to play the game)

      1. They’re chasing the “tax avoidance” will-o’-wisp again.

Tax AVOIDANCE is perfectly legal. Tax EVASION is not. The majority of the bloated leviathan that is the US Tax Code is “do THIS, and we’ll be easy on you; do THAT, and pay out the nose.” Choosing THIS is “tax avoidance” because you won’t pay for doing THAT. It was put in the tax code by Congress with the intent of modifying behavior — not for raising revenue.

So, now VSGPOTUSDJT is “morally guilty” for doing what the laws dictated, rather than stupidly blundering around and wasting his capital?
