Dear MAGA: 20190825 Open Topic

Remember – your greatest gift to President Trump is FIVE WORDS:

This cheerfully and purposefully reposted

open thread is VERY OPEN – a place for everybody
to post whatever they feel they would like
to tell the White Hats, and the rest of the MAGA world.

Say what you want, comment on what other people said,
comment on people’s comments.
Keep it civil.  Treehouse rules, but expect lots of QAnon.

See the January 1st daily thread for the rules of the road,
which are few but important.

Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering,
not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
(Romans 2:4)

Have you ever thought about how long God’s goodness has been hunting you down, cutting off all your avenues of escape, relentlessly hounding you until you finally surrender to it?

God is that committed to blessing you. And that should be good news.

You may remember a time when circumstances were particularly grim, when you felt like there was no escape, you were going to be crushed. But God somehow, someway, was with you, holding your heart so tenderly you barely could feel His touch, but you lived to see another day. And you knew it was the goodness of God.

Maybe you have sensed His goodness in a very deep way when you held a newborn baby in your arms for the first time.

Or perhaps you have never really sensed His goodness, but you still choose to trust in it by His grace.

It’s easy to fall out of the practice of remembering the goodness of God. But you really can never get too much of His goodness, right?

Psalm 23 is one of the most beloved chapters of the Bible. “Surely Goodness and Mercy will follow me all the days of my life.” Who doesn’t want that?

In fact, Jesus reminds us that our Heavenly Father shares His goodness with the undeserving as well as those who do well in His sight. And He calls us to do the same.

“But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven.
For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and
he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

(Matthew 5:44-45)

Let’s pull on Heaven together for more of His goodness.
The world around us certainly needs it.

I am fully confident that you all will keep this Sunday Open lively with discussion while I am away from my computer. I look forward to reading and catching up when I return. God bless. Think*3

  2. Meet Mr B, the 26 lb kitty. The new term I learned is “chonk and he is so much if a chonk he redefines the word!

(noun) First seen in an Internet meme that began circulating circa summer 2018, the word “chonk” refers to an aggressively chubby housecat.

According to the cat girth scale depicted in the meme, a cat is a chonk (or chonker) if it has between 30 and 60 percent body fat.

    Variations: chomk, chonker, heckin’ chonker”

“Mr. B might just be one of the most fascinating and adorable “chonker” cats that you’ll see. (“Chonker” is an affectionate term used to describe chubby but photogenic cats.) When Mr. B’s photogenic 26-pound-frame was shared on social media, he went viral so fast that he crashed Morris Animal Refuge’s website.”

  3. Whut?

NYPD arrest black man, 33, who was ‘roaming the streets of Manhattan and committing hate crimes against white people including hitting a 20-year-old woman over the head with a BRICK’
Todd Lyons was arrested Friday, charged with three counts of hate crime assault
Video shows a shirtless man on the streets of Manhattan, launching attacks
Footage shows one woman, 20, hit from behind with a brick as the walks alone
‘This woman is lucky to be alive, she could have been seriously injured’, cops say
Authorities said Lyons called one of his victims a ‘f***ing honky’ in the hate spree
First attack happened on August 9 with three more the evening of August 14

    1. Likely a nut who watches a lot of msm. Thats the thing. They see it and repeat it. Pelosi with her comment about “throwing a punch for the children” is leading even the not so crazies in that direction. They wont win their elections so they want to intimidate us to stop the vote. Projection!

      1. Guess the only time they can invoke Jesus or Christianity is equating it to socialism? I know the same preacher man dismissed Steve Scalise and and the others being shot by somehow bringing up the lesbian black woman who ‘saved’ them, oppression and systemic racism so he must be the token “Christian” who brings it home for them.

        1. There’s a passage in Acts that talks about living in community in the early Christian groups. It worked, but it was VOLUNTARY, just like living in community as a religious order is. That’s the difference that a lot of lefties don’t want to see.

    1. Some powerful preaching there. Plagarism saves time.

Would that some who speak TRUTH would be as bold. But as we all know, too many ministers are timid and trying to toe the line.

The tradition of black preaching, going back to well before the Civil War, is a fascinating study in history. It is also not given adequate presentation for one very simple reason: The racialists hate Christianity and do not want to highlight the work of Christianity in people’s lives or in history – it threatens them, because they know they are conquered by the blood of the lamb and word of the overcomer’s testimony. Doubly so when Christianity is shown to be a powerful force that does not square with the racialist narrative.

The trouble is much (not all) of what he says isn’t wrong per se: The best propaganda wraps a silent poison pill with a bevy of soaring moral truths. He spends a lot of time asking questions. They are largely rhetorical questions, but they are still only questions, pointers. And like all such questions, if you leave them UNANSWERED, then the trajectory of questions becomes informed by the biases and interpretations of the audience. The heavy use of rhetorical questions is a long-standing part of the black spiritual tradition, going back to times when the black community was largely illiterate or were poor, could not afford basics such as hymnals or copies of the scriptures. Musical forms were antiphonal, which is that there was a lot of leader/response in the worship. Preaching was more of an interactive experience as well, the congregation was expected to voice their “Amen!” and other responses during the sermon. It’s an unusual experience for people steeped in more mainline churches, but there are many informal similarities to, say, Latin liturgy.

He litters the field with a series of questions, that to most people appear to be a series of “Left Turn” signs. They don’t say “left turn”, but judging by the response of the audience, they sure got THAT message.

How what he is saying is wrong is that he never properly connects the Bible with policy. He is preaching on intentions while he is ignoring outcomes.

Helping the poor and promoting justice are not “socialism”.

Socialism is the opposite of helping the poor because it is a system that enslaves them and prevents them from being empowered. Socialism is slavery, but in Christ we have freedom: If the son sets you free, you will be free indeed. The history of two thousand years of Christianity is overthrowing these worldly+demonic systems of human enslavement.

Socialism is the opposite of justice because it always implements favoritism toward privileged classes – there is no equal justice under the law. Under socialism the underprivileged are oppressed under different laws and justice while the others oppress and lord over them. The left trumpets their phony care and blatant partiality for the poor with this kind of virtue signalling. “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.” Lev 19:15 ESV

The Bible does not endorse socialism, at all. Imposing it on people is at a minimum Pharisaical, putting burdens on people but being unwilling to raise a finger to lift them. The Pharisees and socialism kept people oppressed under a series of politically correct human traditions that kept them under giant burdens of rule-keeping. Christ comes to free people, to empower them. He offers them REST, he offers to take away the burden. Come to me, he calls, all who are weary, I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

I noticed on the G7 Summit twitter feed…that the Euro Leftists are blaming these fires on Bolsonaro.

Macron and Merkel were overheard on a hot mike talking about Bolsonaro and the rainforest fires.

We never have and we planted many flowers that attract Finches and Hummingbirds, butterflies and different Bees.
Now we have abundant birds and butterflies and bees. I love Hummingbirds.
We never use toxins not even the lawn. People are obsessed with their lawns to eliminated even good dandelions.

    2. The numbers are declining because they’re getting killed and stuck on the bird-choppers.

The “hive collapse” is just a cover story by the greens (and a convenient crisis) to further their nefarious wealt-redistribution schemes. Willis at WUWT and Pierre at NoTricksZone have covered this in detail…

      It’s a SCAM.

Over here they’re trying to get us to put up insect hotels!!!!! Hmmm. Let’s see. The greens believe in the god of evolution (GAIA), as in no GOD, survival of the fittest, adapt or die, etc., etc., etc. So, according to their rules, the bees and other insects should adapt or die.

The greens have created a monster, and it is them. Turn off the bird-choppers, and all will be well. QED.

      1. Don’t forget other AND conditions.

Look at the body length of bees. Then compare to the fractions of the wavelengths of the telecomm spectrums in use. WiFi especially. Increased absorbtion.

Also, neonic insecticides (tobacco based?) are systemic and are picked up by bees from flowers where at minute concentrations destroying their gut flora leading to inability to navigate back to their hives.

    3. Side story on bees. Saw bees buzzing around our garden – wonderful! Thought they were focused on some herbs that are interplanted with our squash – perfect!

This is a garden area full of melons & winter squash that is away from the house & we do little with after planting until harvest, except for watering during particularly dry spells.

I would walk by and think how lovely to see the bees at the herbs and flowers interplanted with the melons and squash.

Tried harvest and then remove that winter squash vine yesterday. Those bees weren’t just buzzing around – they had made an in ground nest under the huge winter squash plant that they did not want to see uprooted and pulled out of their nest as it was essentially uprooting their nest as well.

And they weren’t bees. Yellow jackets!!!!! Had not previously gotten close enough to know what they were.

So much for all of the peaceful, happy thoughts of our partnership with nature helping the bees…etc.
Nope, infested with yellow jackets who were angry. Husband only got 1 sting. We will now try our best to kill them with natural methods as we have a garden for healthy, organic, natural produce at low cost and to be good stewards of the little piece of earth. however, if natural methods don’t work we will appreciatively use chemicals and then work to cover that bit of ground back to permaculture/organic/healthy standards!

But, yes, save the bees and plant bee friendly plants (and bird friendly plants)

  9. So, went to a small dinner party last night and, um, well, we got to talking about the fabulous weather we’re having for a change, and when I mentioned the sun must be a bit calm, it started a discussion on solar energy being the driver of temperatures on earth. Our hostess, a nurse in her 60s, had never heard of a solar minimum, the little ice age, or the theory that the string instruments created in the golden age of Cremona (late 17th century into the early 18th) create such stunning sound because the wood is dense from slow growth due to the temperatures being low.

I’d say we have an education deficit that’s going to be pretty rough to fill. I mean, this is stuff that should be basic knowledge. The Maunder Minimum, anyway.

    1. Yep. Seems like we’re experiencing a “Mental Minimum” before we have a new solar minimum (Eddy Minimum?).

Pierre Gosselin over at NoTricksZone has a great article (OK, a bunch, along with Kenneth Richard and Kirye) about it:

Here are a couple of charts from that:

Fig. 1: SC24 is depicted in red and compared to the mean of the previous 23 cycles (blue curve) and the very similar SC5 (in black).

Fig. 2: Sunspot activity of the individual cycles since the beginning of cycle 1 in the year 1755. The numbers are computed by adding up the monthly differences of the observed cycles to the mean value, up to the current cycle month no. 126.

The entire article (as well as others on that site, of course) is well worth reading.

Over here, because of Gore-Bull warming, energy prices are going up, and up, and up. Just in time for the next Little Ice Age, where we’ll need LOTS of energy. So the “energy providers’ ” profits will be going up, and up, and up, even more…

They, and their globalist cabal, need to experience some local warming in the Lake of Fire. Unless they repent.

turning from tarshish evangelism god’s will

After Jonah allowed God to use him, we see the greatest miracle in the book of Jonah: the salvation of the Ninevites. These cruel pagan people experienced one of the greatest revivals in Biblical history.

When you allow the Holy Spirit to work through you, amazing things can happen.

The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. . . . When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. (Jonah 3:5-6, 10)

You may doubt your abilities or eloquence in sharing about Christ. You may feel hesitant about discussing faith with someone who is offensive or unlovable. But when you allow the Holy Spirit to work through you, amazing things can happen. When we present the authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ and live our lives as authentic Christians, we can have more impact than we can imagine.

Is God calling you to a Jonah-sized task today? He may not be calling you to preach to an entire town, but perhaps you are facing your own hostile Ninevite. Instead of running from what God is entrusting to you, seek His strength today to face the work He has called you to do.

Prayer: Father, teach me to trust in You and Your strength for the work You call me to do. I pray that Your Spirit would fill me with courage to boldly proclaim Your Truth to those around me. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).

    1. Amen, Nikki. As a pastor of ours once said, sometimes GOD takes you out of your comfort zone to do HIS will. In times like that, it’s good to reflect on II Corinthians 12:8-10:

8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

      and Isaiah 55:11:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

GOD Bless you and duchess01 (and many others here) for your Bible verses, quotes, and songs. We also need to pray for VSGPDJT and his family, Vice-President Pence, and his family, and the administration, especially that those “in crime” might repent and turn from their wicked ways. Also, for the great folks here on the QTree, and Wolfm00n, and the MAGA folks and Deplorables all over…

Rich part of Washington, D.C. goes tooth-and-claw to prevent new child-migrant shelter in its neighborhood

Putting on its Victorian gentleman suit (pace Tom Wolfe), the Washington Post’s editorial board tut-tuts a rich part of Washington, D.C. and its political patrons, for pulling out all stops to prevent construction of a child-migrant shelter in its fancy environs.

MANY AMERICANS are rightly outraged by the Trump administration’s treatment of migrant children, who have been separated from parents and ill-treated by authorities. Democrats have been understandably eager to distance themselves from such policies — a stance that can result in knee-jerk opposition even to sensible practices in effect during the Obama administration.

That might explain the nearly uniform outcry from Washington-area politicians incensed at federal plans to build new shelters for migrant children in Northern Virginia and the District . The shelters, state-licensed and similar to scores across the county in operation since before President Trump took office, would help move migrant children out of squalid, cramped Border Patrol stations near the U.S.-Mexico border. They would provide a way station for unaccompanied minors while federal officials seek to place them with U.S.-based relatives or foster families.

But local politicians, nearly all Democrats, have balked at cooperating with federal authorities on any immigration matter. They have denounced the proposed new shelters with objections that smack of NIMBYism masquerading as humane concern for children. This month, the administration of D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) enacted emergency rules that blocked a planned federal shelter.

    1. From the article:

Those are some child migrants authorities are getting a new shelter pipeline set up for.

The map here says that Prince George’s County in Maryland is about six miles from the Takoma district in Washington, D.C. where the resistance is.

It’s indisputable that bringing in more unvetted migrants mean there are going to be more of these killings going on, something that might just affect property values and the quality of life in this tony district.

I don’t say snarky things about upscale neighborhoods. It would be hypocritical for me since I live in an upper middle class one surrounded by much more elegant developments. All are private. But, that’s the way we live here.

    1. Well, here we go with the “foot in the door” for ALL Native American tribes to clamor for this non-voting seat in the U.S. House. Once Ms. Teehee is seated, the other tribes, beginning with the two other recognized Cherokee Nation tribes, will demand a seat. This will most likely be followed by every other Native American tribe for the same, attempting to link the Cherokee Nation precedent to the other tribes (whether or not it can be done).
My gut feeling is that the name of the game here is “REPARATIONS”. The Native Americans are going to start their own push for reparations just like the African-Americans have. They will demand payments that will go way beyond the funds that the Federal government already allocates to Native American tribes.
By the way, you can bet that most, if not all, of any Native American tribal seating in the House will be Democrat. Ms. Teehee has Democrat credentials that go way back.

      1. I think GORSUCH saves the day here – for everybody. He’s not only a STICKLER on the LAW AS WRITTEN AND INTENDED – he’s the resident SCOTUS expert on Indian law. That combination will be good for Trump overall, because Trump believes in deals being lived up to – none of this “living law” BS will survive. “Reparations” are going nowhere, and they will destroy Democrats.

        RELAX is my advice. 😎

Hes going to lose his job at a minimum. They may sue him for the cost of the investigation too. Criminal charges may be coming. What a dumb kid.

“Authorities first described Wednesday’s 2:45 p.m. incident outside the the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lancaster station as a shooting, then said the following day that the involved weapon may have been a pellet gun, rather than a firearm.

But sheriff’s officials announced late Saturday that Deputy Angel Reinosa, a rookie deputy with the department, made the whole thing up.

Detectives met with Reinosa on Saturday for a follow-up interview about the incident, Capt. Kent Wegener of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said.”

“Deputy Reinosa admitted that he was not shot at from the apartment complex area, as he had initially claimed,” Wegener said.

Sally is still in ICU and will be until her heart rhythm stabilizes. More tests tomorrow to try to determine cause of atrial fibrillation.

She has improved in some respects, blood pressure and temp now normal. Earlier the Blood Pressure was very low, possibly due to dehydration or heart condition.

This is the first time she has had any heart involvement and they don’t think it’s the usual heart condition for her neurological disease, Friedreich’s Ataxia.

Thanks so much for your prayers – they are worth more than gold/platinum/diamonds – mean the world to our family!

    1. Well, Dr. Frances, let’s see, shall we? —
Adolf Hitler: Minimum 11 MILLION Jews, German civilians, civilians in Nazi-controlled countries.
Josef Stalin: Estimated 40 MILLION Russians by war / starvation / forced labor / internment camps. (the “official” totals are around 20 Million but since the information comes from former Soviet archives, probably DOUBLE that figure)
Mao Zedong: Estimated 45 MILLION Chinese during the Cultural Revolution. If you count the last several years of the Chinese Civil War with which he was involved, add at least 2 MILLION more to that total.
So, the estimated total of the above is AT LEAST 98 MILLION human beings.
And then there’s BRIAN STELTER, that fool, saying “I should have interrupted him, I wish I would have heard him say that, but I was distracted by technical issues” garbage.

  16. Pardon the long post. Thinking it may be worth a read…

From the trenches, so to speak.

The health of the Second Amendment is critical to gun owners.

    Two current observations.

Walmart greeter stopped me this morning. Greeter does not know me or even by face as a customer. Me, wearing my MAGA hat, as always.

Greeter tells me he voted from Trump in 2016. Won’t vote for Trump because Trump supports Red Flag laws.

Me, let him know President Trump is doing great things for America and no, President Trump will not allow Red Flag laws. Said President Trump won’t allow Red Flag laws, a second time. (Drive the point home)

Greeter was happy to hear it, my perspective anyway. Would have been nice if we had time to chat it out a bit. But Walmart very busy, and he is on the clock.

Parted ways with me saying, thanks for supporting President Trump.
Gun forum I monitor and share thoughts here in NV, is a resounding HELL NO TO ALL gun control. That is less a few limp wristed imbeciles imported from komifornia. The latter seemingly a fricken disease.
Plenty pissed off about bump stock, while admitting bump stock is simply an unnecessary accessory.
    – Point is, banning bump stocks was an Administrative function by ATF. Prevailing thought is, if bump stocks can be banned by administrative order, then it is also a slippery slope against the Second Amendment…via moar administrative actions. Me thinks they are correct. Terrible precedent, is grossly, an understatement.

Further, 25 to 50 percent of them say they’ll NEVER vote for Trump if gun control goes forward becoming law. Logic is lost in the back and forth. Simply say they’ll sit out the election in 2020.
While I am firmly on the Trump Train, I suspect significant numbers of voters are NOT. And will NOT support President Trump in 2020 IF MOAR gun control becomes law.

So long as mental issues are addressed without saying guns, should not be an issue. There are plenty of mental cases out there killing or injuring people with guns, bats, hammers, their hands, etc. Gotta be framed correctly.

AND, background checks are simply stooped as they are ineffective.

Personally, believe President Trump knows how critical this is to reelection.

    Figured I’d share ^^^…;-)

      1. Some of the more recent mass murderers bought their guns legally, having passed the federal background check.
I think it’s more effective to harshly prosecute convicted felons who are caught with guns. Get the word out they’ll spend several years in jail when caught and there will be far fewer felons possessing guns.

Exactly, me thinks. Couple weeks ago, IIRC, Chicago PD arrested twelve for illegally have a gun. With 24 hours eight were released. No doubt in my mind, none of the twelve will be prosecuted.

Criminals no, there is no bite, or punishment when they break laws…so they continue to break laws with impunity.

        1. This is the place to let folks know what you’re seeing out there!

I would not mind a higher court ruling on bump stocks. Generally speaking, the law favors us, and the higher a case goes, the more clearly the Constitutional aspects turn in our favor. But my prediction is that courts will say it is proper for the ATF to determine WITHIN LIMITS what constitutes machine gun fire (meaning they can’t call semi-auto a “machine gun”), and that bump fire enters a cyclic machine state, even if crudely and in a way designed to circumvent the law. I would be surprised if they overturn it. But you never know.

What I would really like to see is a ruling that NFA is problematic, because civilians are prohibited from owning common [selective fire] infantry arms, and that is in fact the PURPOSE of the Second Amendment – that basic and common infantry arms be in the hands of not just our (COUGH) standing army, but the People themselves, for the preservation of freedom. At the very least, such a ruling could specifically protect “military style” arms from infringement, even if not selective fire. It could easily be argued that military-style weaponry is EXACTLY what is protected by 2A.

          Liked by 4 people

          1. NFA going away would be huge.

IF RBG vacates her seat, however it may occur, getting another Justice may be exactly what we need to toss NFA.

            Liked by 3 people

        2. I understand where the 2A folks are coming from, not sure if they really support Trump.

But remind them: Even if Trump did pass something they don’t like (not likely, but still)…

… He is BIGLY tee’ing up the courts with conservative judges.

2A might have the best laws in the world but they’re meaningless with BAD JUDGES.

The Leftists can pass any idiot law they want, but if the judges aren’t on their side, it doesn’t matter!

If you don’t vote for Trump, but for a DEMOCRAT, you KNOW they all are anti-2A no matter what. Expect E.O.’s, medical insurance policies, IRS rules, every kind of crazy law they can make.

And expect MORE JUDGES, maybe more Supreme Court judges, all of who will be at WAR with the Heller decision.

          It will come.

Remember: Trump is not the lesser of two evils. He’s the only hope.

          Liked by 3 people

          1. Absolutely.

Always drive the positives in these discussions. Probably works on many. At election time I suspect most.

Fundamentally push 2A hasn’t really lost anything. In fact stronger with two Justices and 150 or more Judges.

Across the spectrum, President Trump has turned America around, from IMO, literally going off the cliff had hildabeast won.

Quite confident we’ll win in 2020. But, we should absolutely not get cocky betting on a landslide. We gotta deliver every vote possible For President Trump.

      Court document

Soon after contacting a package that Harrisburg police say contained an unknown amount of the lethal synthetic opioid fentanyl, the officer was stricken with classic overdose symptoms. His respiratory system was shutting down, and he was all alone on the street. (File)

As the officer pursued the fleeing suspect vehicle, the suspect or suspects inside tossed cash and a package out the window, Harrisburg Police Commissioner Thomas Carter said this morning.

The officer stopped his pursuit to gather the would-be evidence.
But soon after coming into contact with the package, which police say contained an unknown amount of the lethal synthetic opioid fentanyl, he was stricken with the classic overdose symptoms, Carter said.

His respiratory system was shutting down.
Carter said the first officer to arrive on the scene immediately administered a dose of the opioid antidote Narcan to the stricken cop.
Still, arriving EMTs would need to give the officer a second dose, which finally began to ease the overdose symptoms.
