THE WALL: The Transcript

You will want to study this speech for a long time. Trump is doing master maneuvering here. Watch and learn, fellow grasshoppers!

Hat tip to GA/FL for the transcript, and BigMamaTEA for the video.

THE PRESIDENT: My fellow Americans: Tonight, I am speaking to you because there is a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border.

Every day, Customs and Border Patrol agents encounter thousands of illegal immigrants trying to enter our country. We are out of space to hold them, and we have no way to promptly return them back home to their country.

America proudly welcomes millions of lawful immigrants who enrich our society and contribute to our nation. But all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled, illegal migration. It strains public resources and drives down jobs and wages. Among those hardest hit are African Americans and Hispanic Americans.

Our southern border is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs, including meth, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl. Every week, 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone, 90 percent of which floods across from our southern border. More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.

In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records, including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings. Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country, and thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now.

This is a humanitarian crisis — a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul.

Last month, 20,000 migrant children were illegally brought into the United States — a dramatic increase. These children are used as human pawns by vicious coyotes and ruthless gangs. One in three women are sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico. Women and children are the biggest victims, by far, of our broken system.

This is the tragic reality of illegal immigration on our southern border. This is the cycle of human suffering that I am determined to end.

My administration has presented Congress with a detailed proposal to secure the border and stop the criminal gangs, drug smugglers, and human traffickers. It’s a tremendous problem. Our proposal was developed by law enforcement professionals and border agents at the Department of Homeland Security. These are the resources they have requested to properly perform their mission and keep America safe. In fact, safer than ever before.

The proposal from Homeland Security includes cutting-edge technology for detecting drugs, weapons, illegal contraband, and many other things. We have requested more agents, immigration judges, and bed space to process the sharp rise in unlawful migration fueled by our very strong economy. Our plan also contains an urgent request for humanitarian assistance and medical support.

Furthermore, we have asked Congress to close border security loopholes so that illegal immigrant children can be safely and humanely returned back home.

Finally, as part of an overall approach to border security, law enforcement professionals have requested $5.7 billion for a physical barrier. At the request of Democrats, it will be a steel barrier rather than a concrete wall. This barrier is absolutely critical to border security. It’s also what our professionals at the border want and need. This is just common sense.

The border wall would very quickly pay for itself. The cost of illegal drugs exceeds $500 billion a year — vastly more than the $5.7 billion we have requested from Congress. The wall will also be paid for, indirectly, by the great new trade deal we have made with Mexico.

Senator Chuck Schumer — who you will be hearing from later tonight — has repeatedly supported a physical barrier in the past, along with many other Democrats. They changed their mind only after I was elected President.

Democrats in Congress have refused to acknowledge the crisis. And they have refused to provide our brave border agents with the tools they desperately need to protect our families and our nation.

The federal government remains shut down for one reason and one reason only: because Democrats will not fund border security.

My administration is doing everything in our power to help those impacted by the situation. But the only solution is for Democrats to pass a spending bill that defends our borders and re-opens the government.

This situation could be solved in a 45-minute meeting. I have invited Congressional leadership to the White House tomorrow to get this done. Hopefully, we can rise above partisan politics in order to support national security.

Some have suggested a barrier is immoral. Then why do wealthy politicians build walls, fences, and gates around their homes? They don’t build walls because they hate the people on the outside, but because they love the people on the inside. The only thing that is immoral is the politicians to do nothing and continue to allow more innocent people to be so horribly victimized.

America’s heart broke the day after Christmas when a young police officer in California was savagely murdered in cold blood by an illegal alien, who just came across the border. The life of an American hero was stolen by someone who had no right to be in our country.

Day after day, precious lives are cut short by those who have violated our borders. In California, an Air Force veteran was raped, murdered, and beaten to death with a hammer by an illegal alien with a long criminal history. In Georgia, an illegal alien was recently charged with murder for killing, beheading, and dismembering his neighbor. In Maryland, MS-13 gang members who arrived in the United States as unaccompanied minors were arrested and charged last year after viciously stabbing and beating a 16-year-old girl.

Over the last several years, I’ve met with dozens of families whose loved ones were stolen by illegal immigration. I’ve held the hands of the weeping mothers and embraced the grief-stricken fathers. So sad. So terrible. I will never forget the pain in their eyes, the tremble in their voices, and the sadness gripping their souls.

How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?

To those who refuse to compromise in the name of border security, I would ask: Imagine if it was your child, your husband, or your wife whose life was so cruelly shattered and totally broken?

To every member of Congress: Pass a bill that ends this crisis.

To every citizen: Call Congress and tell them to finally, after all of these decades, secure our border.

This is a choice between right and wrong, justice and injustice. This is about whether we fulfill our sacred duty to the American citizens we serve.

When I took the Oath of Office, I swore to protect our country. And that is what I will always do, so help me God.

Thank you and goodnight.

END 9:11 P.M. EST

Yeah, Chuckles. 9:11

Yeah, I’d be speechless, too, if I knew that 5 billion for the WALL would cut off hundreds of billions in MONEY and POWER for Democrats, not to mention 10 or 20 billion from DRUGS sneaking toward the DNC and its allies by assorted routes.

Trump laid the groundwork for action. Very quietly, but very publicly, he COCKED THE GUN on the WALL.

How many rounds will 5.7 billion dollars buy? Stood up from the GULF to the PACIFIC!

I thought our President had the perfect tone this evening. He spoke to the Forgotten Men and Women. He spoke to Blacks and Hispanics that are hurt because illegals take their jobs or force their wages lower. He spoke about the girls that are raped who make the dangerous journey.

He spoke about the American families that lost a love one because of drugs. He spoke about the Americans that have lost a loved one permanently to the hands of illegals. He shared stories about Americans that have been killed. A Cop, an Air Force woman and a 16 year old girl.

God bless PDJT for his love and devotion to our country and its citizens!

    1. Perfect tone! Yes, exactly. His appearance, backdrop, lighting, tie, demeanor, were all absolutely spot on. His appeal to the forgotten ones, the most vulnerable, was heart felt without being over the top corny.

He was dignified, direct, and protective. I don’t know how anyone could have watched any part of that and not felt respect if nothing else. I am proud and honored that this man represents us and is working for us.

      God bless PDJT.

    1. You’re welcome! Yes – it reads very nicely, and I’m catching many more subtleties.

Citing humanitarian before security – President Trump GETS IT.

Note also that he cited MIGRATION instead of immigration twice.

This weaponizes the left’s evolving terminology back at them in a way that uses THEIR momentum to ram the sneaky knife home in guilty flesh.

“But all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled, illegal migration.”

The globalist MIGRATION CONSPIRACY which is very sneakily supported by the UN and Soros AND Russia AND China AND the American Communists whoops I mean Democrats is key for linking it back to the Dems in the HOUSE OF COMMIES who are trying to HARM AMERICA.

Perfectly timed to end at 9:11. Symbols will be their downfall. 😎

      1. Yes, and thanks for further drilling down. I loved the “illegal migration”. The one statistic that struck deep in my psyche was the 20,000 migrant children illegally brought into the United States because it is my belief many if not most were brought by people they did not even know.

  4. And he is giving Congress One Final chance to do the right thing. They won’t, of course.

It’ll then be a true National Security Emergency. VSGPDJT will plant those steel beams in the ground to Build a Big Beautiful Border Wall. Perhaps while we’re digging postholes, we can dig a grave for RBG.

PS fire up those Congressional phone lines tomorrow.

    1. LOL I posted my comment then went back and read all the comments on prior thread, and I see we Deplorables certainly got the message. If the Uniparty cabal needs a translation, we got it covered:

    2. I tried them all and all voice mails are full so I sent emails. It would be nice if there was a way to count the # of calls that came in after voice mails were filled. Emails work well, too. I remember the impact of letters piling up on state legislators desks when I worked in state government way back when snail mail was the primary communication.

We all need to do this. Lines are busy now. Keep calling til we get thru even if it takes days.

      1. Johnny…let me help with that image……

ALSO…I would like to note, that the number on the image is NuttyNan’s congressional office number.

Nan also, as Speaker has additional: Speaker’s Office:202-225-0100. She also is now @SpeakerPelosi on twatter. AND….

Schmuckles info is the same & correct.

        1. ALSO……..FYI….Last time NuttyNan was Speaker…..(bigger budget) & she flew privately on gov’t plane, I named the Speaker’s Express. When Boehner was getting ready to take the gavel….I emailed him about the “Speakers” plane. Shortly, Boehner was publicly addressing the fact that HIS speakership would NOT have a private plane flying home every weekend, therefore HE would be saving taxpayer $$$. HA!

Anyway, we need to keep an eye on NuttyNan……she likes flying to her homes in style (Gulfstream, stocked with top level booze) at the taxpayers expense.

  6. Our VSG President set some traps for the Dems in that short speech, didn’t he.

He mentioned how the Chuck and the Dems used to be for a barrier on the border, then said:

“They changed their mind only after I was elected President.”

If they come out and say…’That’s not true’…then they will have to explain *when* they changed their mind.
    And why.

He cited lots of facts, actual Numbers of assaults, crimes, arrests and deaths.
If the Dems/Enemedia try to dispute these numbers…then they will be Talking About It.

He had the picture of his Mother, right behind him.
His mother…was an immigrant…a legal immigrant.

He laid this crisis on the Dems…where it should be.
This ‘shutdown’ is because they are against keeping Americans safe.

    Well played, Mr. President.
    Very well played!

    1. He mentioned how the Chuck and the Dems used to be for a barrier on the border,

I didn’t catch that…of course I had to change streams SEVEN TIMES. That was the one thing I was thinking he needed to include but didn’t…but he did!

A picture of Melania could have worked too; she is MUCH more well known as an immigrant.

    1. He comes out with a positive, uplifting line or three each speech…and those will never, ever make the books of famous quotations.

My personal favorite is still “When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice” from his pitch-black-dark (sarcasm) inaugural speech.

        1. No. They didn’t want to carry this. They had no real choice.

They wouldn’t in the future either…but (in my utterly inexperienced judgment) he’d have to do this no more than once every six months or so.

        1. If I understand this correctly (and granted, I probably don’t) a “catapult” is actually a gigantic crossbow-like thing (Roman-tech, if not even older, artillery), and the trebuchet flings objects overhand.

I could very well be wrong about this.

      1. I think so, too. I had heard recently (like in the last few days) that stat, so when I heard him say in in three in his speech, I thought, hmm….what’s that about? Someone not current on data points?

But if even I heard the two in three are raped, you can bet his peeps would be all over that. So then you have to ask why is it incorrect? And it makes a certain sense doesn’t it? He is very, very smart and very, very smooth.

        1. Yes…and it’s been said that Stephan Miller worked on this speech with him.
Miller is a very precise kinda guy.

So there was our VSG, with VSG-jr…working on this short speech together.

Yeah, I’m thinking that little factual ‘error’ was placed there on purpose.
And I’ll bet they had some mischievous grins over it.

This short speech was packed with traps like that.
          It was brilliant.

          Liked by 7 people

          1. Brilliant, indeed. I did not expect to come away from that speech anything other than disappointed or maybe grimly determined and looking at what is next.

I did NOT expect to be so moved by the dignity and gravitas, the heart, the appeal to the better angels (hardy har har) of the Dims, the reverence shown to the forgotten man, and the love he feels for Americans. It was a lot wrapped up in a short speech, and then there were those little traps. And a little eye poke and Nancy and her phony morality. It was just fabulous and impressive.

And then Chuck and Nancy for dessert! I almost didn’t watch them because I knew they would annoy me, but when I saw them I thought oh my gosh what a freak show and then of course I couldn’t turn it off.

            I’m quite happy.

          2. I think you’re right…that was done purposely…POTUS knew they wanted to fact check him–so why not give them a morsel to chew on…only pointing out the “error” makes his case even more! have THEM do the work for him…very crafty!

  7. After the Berlin Wall came down and there was lots of analysis about how the Soviet Union had crumbled, I remember hearing more than once that it was a big deal in the Kremlin when they observed how President Reagan handled the air traffic controllers union strike.

The Politburo apparently peed their pants because President Reagan stood strong and tough and they realized he didn’t bluff. It was a crucial point.

I can’t help but compare that moment in history with PDJT’s stance on The Wall. And he of course will know that how he handles this is being observed by Xi and Putin and others. It is a big deal what our President is doing, on so many levels.

    Liked by 5 people

    1. Great point, Syl…you’re right; the whole world is watching.

How he handles this will affect people all over:
If he remains firm and sticks with his guns, the YellowVests will be encouraged to keep going too.
      Courage is contagious.
It will encourage even more to join them.

The globalists will be forlorn because they’ve had all their lackeys and minions attacking him…and it didn’t work.

And it goes without saying that us Deplorables will be overjoyed and celebrating if he remains firm and gets going full blast on the wall construction.

Yes, this *is* a big deal on many levels.

  8. sorry I missed what seems to have been one hell of a party last night!!
i love reading the excitement in your posts…the enthusiasm…it’s like I was there!
    thanks for sharing!!

I’ve come to believe POTUS is a true leader. He doesn’t need to do everything by himself–he knows this. Obama was trying to be a dictator–couldn’t compromise, wouldn’t compromise, didn’t know how to lead. But President Trump does know how to lead–assign tasks and responsibility and expects results. If he doesn’t get results, he doesn’t just take over the task, he finds another to assign it to. Giving Congress one last attempt at doing their jobs for the American people is brilliant.

I really think he wants to work WITH Congress, as the Founders intended, but he loves the people within our borders too much to see them do nothing for much longer.

That is the difference between our Trumpian LION and øbhorrent, øbnoxious Øbabble.
